Acid:

It is the chemical solution made up by Hydrogen and Fluor (HF)X,  and is used in the acid-etching process.

Acid-engraved:

The transformation process applied to the surface of the glass, resulting in translucent or transparent glass with relevant texture.

Acid-etched mattified:

The transformation process using acid which is applied to the surface of the glass, resulting in translucent or transparent glass without reflections. This is one of the SEVASA process which provides the highest level of quality and is differentiated by its satin appearance, perfect uniformity and smooth touch. Smooth, decorated or engraved, dispersing and blending light. Also commonly named satin finish, ground, matt, frosted, opaque, glace, tarnished, etc.

Energy Reflection (Re):

Percentage of energy, proceeding from infrared solar radiations, reflected by the glass.

Energy Transmission (Te):

Percentage of energy, proceeding from infrared solar radiation, transmitted by the glass.

Extraclear Glass (glass):

Float Glass with low content of iron oxides, substantially improving its luminous transmission coefficient and avoids the green shade of standard glass, emphasising its luminous clarity and pure transparency.

Float Glass (or floated):

A glass sheet manufactured by making the melted glass float on a layer of melted tin. Of uniform thickness and a very flat surface, due to which it is the most widely used glass in building work. It is also called flat glass, however not all flat glass products are manufactured by a floatation process.

Frosted glass:

Commonly known as acid-etched mattified glass. (See Acid-etched mattified, acid-etched satin or Translucent glass).

Graduel®:

SEVASA flat acid-etched satin glass with gradual opacity, going from transparent to translucent in gradual grading; for use in architecture, interior design and furniture.

Ground glass:

Process of mattifying glass, resulting in a translucent or transparent glass, satin with anti-reflection, smooth or decorative finishes. It can also be engraved. Also commonly called mattified, satin finish, matt, frosted, opaque, glace, etc.

Incision:

Cut generated on glass by means of acid-etching, obtaining its texture, according to the depth of incision, creating decorative shapes and designs on the glass surface.

Lacquered Glass:

Glass with an opaque and coloured appearance on one of its sides, with a layer of cooked and hard lacquer. LuxMat® Laquée is the range of SEVASA products used mainly for interior design and for coating walls, furniture, etc.

Laminated Glass:

Obtained by joining several simple panels with panels of Polyvinyl Butyral (PVB) in between each glass panel. PVB is a plastic material with very good adherence, elastic, transparent and resistant qualities. The most notable characteristic of Laminated Glass is its resistance to penetration, making it especially useful in high security locations and where safety of people and belongings is a prime aspect.  Also provides good optical qualities, improves acoustic insulation and protects against ultraviolet radiation.

Light Reflection (RL):

Light beam reflected by the glass with relation to the incident light beam.

Luminous Transmission (TL):

Light beam transmitted through the glass with relation to the incident light beam.

LuxMat® Laquée: Range of SEVASA glass lacquered with colour. Of intense colour, combining the finest acid-etching on one side with highly resistant and durable lacquered colour on the other. Allowing perfect vision of the colours and tone in all their intensity.
